Нахождение в Средней Азии калий содержащих минералов и горных пород было известно давно, но до последнего времени не было найдено залежей калийных солей, имеющих промышленное значение К Только по инициативе В. А. Карвацкого2 таковые месторождения были найдены на границе Узбекистана и Туркменистана в районе между Гузаром, Ширабадом и Келифом. В настоящее время месторождения этого района разведываются НЙУ. Сведения о них попали в нашу печать и иностранную; в „Zeitsehrift fur practische Geologic" (май, 1931, стр. 68) имеется заметка о том, что в Русской Средней Азии недавно открыты месторождения калийных солей, которые находятся в Узбекистане, в районах Кашка-дарья, Сурхан-дарья и Карлюк; калийная соль выходит на поверхность и имеет мощность 1,5 м. при содержании К20=Р%. <...>

В сборнике представлены материалы учёных и практиков по вопросам актуальных проблем охраны и использования геологических памятников природы, связанных с природными, социально-экономическими, экологическими и этнокультурными факторами в разных регионах России. В материалах сборника отражён опыт создания геопарков ЮНЕСКО на территории России.

Издание представляет интерес для научных работников, преподавателей вузов, аспирантов, студентов, представителей ООПТ и органов государственной власти. Статьи печатаются в авторской редакции.

This book is derived from the interdisciplinary, contemporary work of the international ophiolite community in a most up-to-date treatment of process-oriented problems and questions on the generation and evolution of ophiolites. It is a large collection of research papers from a wide range of international contributors. Some of these papers were presented in thematic ophiolite sessions at the 2001 Annual Meeting of the Geological Society of America (Boston) and the 2001 Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union (San Francisco). The 32 papers here examine the mode and nature of igneous, metamorphic, tectonic, sedimentological, and biological processes associated with the evolution of oceanic crust in different tectonic settings in Earth history as revealed in various ophiolites and ophiolite belts around the world, and the geodynamic significance of these ophiolites in the evolution of different orogenic systems. Egypt is located in northeastern portion of Africa and extends into the Asian near East. It is susceptible to many local and global tectonic events with sea-level changes during deposition of the Phanerozoic sediments. The Paleozoic history of Egypt showed that the sediments were meagerly comparing with the Mesozoic and Cenozoic. The most important structures which had a great effect on the stratigraphy of Egypt stretched from the northern shores of Egypt to its extreme southern part.

This Special Issue marks the tenth anniversary of the very first issue of the Journal of Structural Geology. The idea of a specialist journal in structural geology was first conceived at a meeting in September 1977 between Paul Hancock of Bristol University and Peter Henn of Pergamon Press. In June 1978 Paul Hancock formally became Editor-in-Chief, joined soon after by Tony Barber as Associate Editor. They then recruited an Editorial Advisory Board and called for papers for the first volume. Those who responded by submitting papers to a then-unknown new journal are still remembered with gratitude, because by showing their faith they started the ball rolling <...>
