Illustrated Pollen Terminology is a collection of palynological terms and wellillustrated with light and electron microscope images. The focus of this book is on the pollen of seed plants, predominantly angiosperms; therefore, it rarely explains features unique to spores or gymnosperms. A strict rationalization of terms on the basis of practical criteria has been attempted for this book. Where necessary, definitions have been reworded, newly circumscribed, or brought into focus. The two volumes on Stable Isotope Techniques are dedicated to my colleague and former tutor Simon M.F. Sheppard. He was the person who introduced me, during my study period in the Centre de Recherches P6trographiques et G6ochimiques, at Vandoeuvre-l~s-Nancy, France, to the wonderful world of stable isotopes applied to earth science, especially in the field of geochemistry and mineral deposits.

EX1ractive metallurgy is that branch ofmetallurgy that deals with ores as raw material and metals as fInished products. It is an ancient art that has been transformed into a modern science as a result of developments in cheinistry and chemical engineering. The present volume is a collective work of a number of authors in wliich metals, their history, properties, extraction technology, and most important inorganic compounds and toxicology are systematically described.

The search for minerals can be traced back for millennia and the search for petroleum for more than a century. Despite this difference, the early days of both relied on clear surface manifestations of the commodities sought in the near-subsurface. Over the course of time, countless gossans and oil seeps have acted as the spur for the discovery of resources at depth.

The Descriptive Part which follows contains a designation of all iron meteorites known to the author as of January 1, 1973. They are listed alphabetically according to the name adopted by Hey (1966) or other authorities. Numerous synonyms and cross references are given to help the reader find the meteorite sought. Additional names and synonyms may be found in Appendices 2, 3 and 4. A Supplement, giving information on meteorites examined after January 1,1973, will be found at the end of Volume 3.

If I were, at about age twenty as a budding paleozoologist and paleoartist, handed a copy of this book by a mysterious time traveler, I would have been shocked as well as delighted. The pages would reveal a world of new dinosaurs and ideas that I barely had a hint of or had no idea existed at all. My head would spin at the revelation of the therizinosaurs such as the wacky feathered Beipiaosaurus and at the biplane flying dromaeosaurids, not to mention the little halszkaraptors with their duck-like beaks, or the oversized shoulder spines of Gigantspinosaurus, the neck spines of Amargasaurus, the brow horns and atrophied arms of bulldog-faced Carnotaurus,

В справочнике дается системное представление об оценке, проектировании и эксплуатации месторождений методом кучного выщелачивания (КВ). Приводится стадийность разработки и реализации проектов, методология оценки капитальных и эксплуатационных затрат на всех стадиях работ. Рассматривается инженерно-геологическое обеспечение предприятий КВ, методы рудоподготовки и технологических испытаний, способы подачи выщелачивающего раствора и извлечения золота. Освещается нормативно-правовое регулирование КВ: сущность требований и регламентов на загрязнение природной среды и практика разрешительных процедур.
