The beginning of any scientific, economic, investigational, and executive achievement depends on the proper knowledge of basic information. The application of geosciences to meet the needs of each country is related to the level of knowledge of the geologists. Accordingly, the comprehensive use of geoscience resources, including energy resources, dimension stones, metallic, and non-metallic minerals, as well as infrastructural projects, such as roads, dams, bridges, tunnels, large structures, and reducing and preventing the natural hazards are based on the following two principles:
1. Geological knowledge of the geologists.
2. Having the necessary types of equipment and capabilities, and managing policy to use them.
The book “Geology of Iran,” written in conjunction with the first principle, is the result of three decades of fieldworks and laboratory works, intended to raise the knowledge of scholars, researchers, and students about the geological knowledge of Iran that is one of the goals and missions of the “Pars Geological Research Center” (Arianzamin).
