Laboratory manual for groundwater, wells and pumps / Лабораторное руководство по эксплуатации подземных вод, скважин и насосов
Agricultural productivity growth is vital for economic and food security outcomes which are threatened by climate change. In the present times, changing climate is a burning issue. Climate change may be limited to a specific region or may occur across the earth. One of the nation’s most significant natural resources is ground water. Approximately 40% of the water needed for all uses, excluding hydropower generation and cooling electric power plants, comes from this source. Remarkably, the existence of groundwater is not only poorly known, but it is also the topic of many common myths for a resource that is so frequently used and crucial to the health and prosperity of a nation. One common misunderstanding is that groundwater is found in underground rivers that resemble surface streams and that certain people can sense their presence. These myths and others have made it difficult to develop and conserve groundwater and have hurt efforts to preserve its quality. Everyone, from the rural homeowner to managers of industrial and municipal water supplies to heads of Federal and State water regulatory agencies, must become more knowledgeable about the occurrence, development, and protection of groundwater in order for the nation to reap the greatest benefits from its groundwater resource. These organizations’ interests, as well as the needs of hydrologists, well drillers, and other people involved in the research and development of groundwater supplies, have all been taken into consideration while creating this manual. <...>
