Seismotectonics of the East Mediterranean-Red Sea region / Сейсмотектоника Восточного Средиземноморья и региона Красного моря

The current tragic seismic events along the East Anatolian Fault Zone shed light of the fragility of our society against catastrophic earthquake events. While this zone was always known as an active mobile region, an unfortunate event can shed light on the importance of the science of seismology in the broader geotectonic framework. This proposed book aims to provide the most current and state-of-the-art summary of our knowledge about the seismotectonic features the East Mediterranean and the Red Sea region where in a short distance very diverse geotectonic situations can be observed including nearly every known kinematic condition, plate movements, and associated magmatism. This book is unique as no such work has been created in the last decades and the knowledge accumulation dramatically increased at the same time. Hence, a wealth of seismotectonic information is ready to be shared to the broader geoscientist community to provide a detailed snapshot on our current understanding of the geotectonic situation in this zone. While collision tectonism broadly explored along the India—Eurasia collision zones and models commonly based on examples from that region, the East Mediterranean—Red Sea Region (EMRSR) can provide an even more dramatic locality to explore great diversity of features. This book also intends to provide opportunity to the large number of experts worked in the past decade to summarize their research and fnd potential interlinks with other teams to be able to defne the future research trends in an area where seismotectonic research is probably one of the most critical Earth Science felds in respect of its impact and connection to our society.
