Stratigraphical atlas of fossil foraminifera / Стратиграфический атлас ископаемых фораминифер
The British Micropalaeontological Society may be said to have come of age when it pblished A Sirarigraphicai Index of Brifish Orrraroda in 1978. This was the first of a snes of special publications aimed at bringag together knowledge for a particular faund group in order to make it more useful to -cialists and non-specialists alike. The preunt volume has been written with the same jectives in mind.
Once the idea had been mooted, a group d prospective contributors met at the Institute of Geological Sciences in Leeds during k course of a Foraminifera Group weekend amference. General agreement was reached ~oth e format and content which to a large cnent follows that of the ostracod precursor. However, one major difference of approach I that we agreed to link our foraminifera1 bra to lithostratigraphical rather than biosnaligraphical successions. The reasons for dm are that it is easier to re-sample accurateh with reference to a lithological succession rr a specific locality; also biostratigraphical hisions (zones, subzones) may have their 'mndaries revised in the light of new eviknee. Where possible we have correlated our lithostratigraphical stratigraphy with zones and stages. <...>
