Principles of environmental geochemistry / Принципы геохимии окружающей среды

Over the past several decades, environmental issues and problems have become an important area of study occupying scientists from a number of disciplines. This textbook is  written for geoscience and environmental science students who are interested in the interactions between anthropogenic activities and the natural environment. In addition, the  book is suitable for undergraduate chemistry and engineering (civil and chemical) students, and a number of students from these disciplines have profited from a course based on this book. Environmental Geochemistry involves an understanding of how natural systems work and the human impact on these systems. While the topical areas are the same  as those found in many environmental chemistry courses, the approach is different in that both natural processes and anthropogenic activities are considered. Another fundamental  difference is that the historical record is an important component of the geosciences. Thus, you will find that significant attention is given to topics such as paleoclimatology and the historical record of pollution as recorded in sediments. The approach also differs from that of low-temperature (or aqueous) geochemistry courses, which tend to emphasize the functions of the natural system with little emphasis on anthropogenic effects.
