Geophysical and astrophysical convection / Геофизическая и астрофизическая конвекция
Since 1993, the Geophysical Turbulence Program at the National Center for Atmospheric Research together with the National Science Foundation has sponsored interdisciplinary workshops each summer in Boulder, CO. The general theme of the workshops relates to turbulence research but with a wide community focus. The material in this volume arose out of a workshop held in October of 1995. The purpose of the workshop was to bring together researchers and students working on both astrophysical and geophysical systems, in which convection was an important effect. Contributions to the meeting and to this volume included those from both experimental and observational views, as well as theory and computational efforts. Each of the chapters herein represents an effort to capture the state of understanding of convection in a variety of contexts, including systems influence by external physical effects (such as rotation, radiation, etc.). Even though the initial contributions were solicited in 1995, many have been updated during the preparation of this volume. Each of the chapters in this volume has been peer reviewed, edited and proofread. All remaining errors are the responsibility of the editors. <...>
