Oil and gas engineering for non-engineers / Нефтегазовая инженерия для неинженеров

This textbook was written to provide insight into the engineering processes employed to extract oil and gas. It is useful for anyone who has ever wondered how oil and gas are discovered, and how they make their way into our gas tanks and barbecue grills. Processes are explained in layman’s terms so non-engineers can easily understand them. Terms are explained when they are used. 
It should be noted that there are many disciplines involved in oil and gas extraction. Although this textbook focuses on the engineering disciplines involved in getting oil and gas out of the ground, the foundation of the process lies in geology, so one chapter is dedicated to the basics of geology and how they relate to the oil and gas industry. In particular, reservoir, drilling, and completions engineers need a basic understanding of geology to be effective in their roles. 
More emphasis is placed on the extraction process or upstream oil and gas. However, transportation and refining of crude oil are also lightly addressed to provide a more complete picture of the oil and gas industry.  <...>
