Encyclopedic dictionary of exploration geophysics / Энциклопедический словарь поисковой геофизики

It is now 10 years since the Encyclopedic Dictionary of Exploration Geophysics was published. In this edition new terms have been added and definitions revised in order to keep up with the technological advances of this decade. 
The first edition appeared when exploration geophysicists were starting to cope with data processing and help was needed with the processing vocabulary. The effects of processing improvements on the quality of data have been remarkable. Now an exploration geophysicist needs to extract more geologic significance from data. Accordingly, more geologic terms are included. The vocabulary of geophysics outside the exploration area has also been expanded. We see more exploration technology used to understand fundamentals of the earth, and better understanding of the entire earth also contributes to our ability to explore. We must narrow the gap between pure and applied geophysics and not lose touch with areas outside our specialties.
