Now that this book has been in use, through various editions, for more than 22 years, I must reflect on the many contributions that have ensured its success. In the last fifty years, there have been major advances in the acquisition, processing and interpretation of seismic reflection data. These advances have been driven largely by the spectacular developments in the electronic and computer industries.
The first was the common midpoint (CMP) method for acquiring data (Mayne, 1962). CMP methods improve the signal-to-noise (S/N) ratios of primary reflections through stacking redundant data.

Since the first edition of 3D Seismic Survey Design appeared in 2002, seismic data acquisition has seen many changes, most of which have been captured in this second edition. This book by Gijs Vermeer describes in detail the properties of 3D acquisition geometries and shows how these properties naturally lead to the 3D symmetric sampling approach to 3D survey design. Many examples from the literature are used to illustrate good and less good choices of acquisition parameters. The link between survey parameters and noise suppression as well as imaging is an intrinsic part of the contents. This book should be of great interest to the designer of 3D seismic surveys, but also to every geophysicist who uses 3D seismic data to retrieve accurate information on the properties of the subsurface. <...>

A velocity model can have enduring and growing interpretive value, beyond its initial creation as a means to optimize the seismic image. The 3D velocity model is often built carefully with a combination of geophysical and geological input, because of the accuracy demands placed on it by the requirements of depth imaging. As such, this model becomes an increasingly effective interpretive tool.
This course addresses the ways in which the interpreter should participate in the development of the velocity model, and underscores its interpretive value with numerous case study examples. <...>

This book, Seismic Attribute Mapping of Structure and Stratigraphy, by Satinder Chopra and Kurt J. Marfurt, is designed specihcally as a companion to Marfurt’s 2006 DISC presentation of the same title and is composed primarily of figures from a forthcoming SEG book by the same authors, Seismic Attributes for Prospect Identification and Reservoir Characterization.

This Atlas is designed to be a useful work of reference in an easily-handled format amenable to future expansion both by the E.A.E.G. and the users themselves. It is intended for geoscientists in both the industrial and academic spheres who are at an early career stage, and who would find it of value to see how the interpretation of a wide variety of types of structure is approached on actual examples. The notes accompanying the examples have been kept as concise as is consistent with clarity, and some guidance for further study has been given in the form of a list of key words, and brief references with each group of examples; these in turn will open up the literature.

Three-dimensional (3D) seismic data have had a substantial impact on the successful exploration and production of  hydrocarbons. Although most commonly acquired by the oil and gas exploration industry, these data are starting to be used as  a research tool in other Earth sciences disciplines. However despite some innovative new directions of academic  investigation, most of the examples of how 3D seismic data have increased our understanding of the structure and stratigraphy  of sedimentary basins come from the industry that acquired these data.

Истощение традиционных нефтегазоносных комплексов для территории Западной Сибири обуславливает огромный интерес к глубокозалегающим стратиграфическим горизонтам, относящимся к категории трудноизвлекаемых (Кузьменков, 2018). Открытие в последние годы значительных по запасам высокодебитных месторождений нефти и газа в породах фундамента вызывает серьезный интерес к этому объекту у геологов России и всего мира.

Цель курса:

Изучение базовых положений сейсморазведки и основных современных методик ин-терпретации, применяющихся с целью качественного и количественного описания строения месторождений нефти и газа.
