В монографии рассматриваются особенности геотермической обстановки Предкавказья и Западно-Сибирской впадины, циклы эпергообмепа в системе земная кора — атмосфера, роль солнечной радиации в процессах выветривания и сносе продуктов разрушения, а также генерация тепла в толщах глин.

Основной задачей исследований данной работы явилось детальное фациально-палеогеографическое обоснование вопросов формирования зон распространения литологических и стратиграфических залежей нефти и іаза в мезозойских и палеогеновых отложениях Ферганской впадины.

Petroleum exploration is a very old pursuit, as the preceding quotation illustrates. The Bible contains many references to the use of pitch or asphalt collected from the natural seepages with which the Middle East abounds. Herodotus, writing in about 450 BC, described oil seeps in Carthage (Tunisia) and the Greek island Zachynthus (Herodotus, c. 450 BC). He gave details of oil extraction from wells near Ardericca in modern Iran, although the wells could not have been very deep because fluid was extracted in a wineskin on the end of a long pole mounted on a fulcrum.

This book is written for anyone who wants to get quickly ‘up to speed’ on some aspect of reflection seismology as it affects the seismic interpreter. It is a development of course notes on seismic reflection interpretation which have been given to students on the MSc course in Petroleum Geology at Aberdeen University over many years, and thus it takes the form of a course manual rather than a systematic textbook. It can be used as a self-contained course for individual study or as the basis of a class programme. The notes were originally provided to make the subject more accessible to geology students, but this volume should also prove useful to others, such as petroleum engineers, who have to work in an integrated exploration or development team side by side with geophysicists and geologists. Much petroleum exploration and production is now driven by the seismic reflection survey technique, so that all team members need to know quite a lot about it.<...>

The geology and geochemistry of petroleum are becoming ever more important as the demand for fossil fuels increases worldwide. We must find new hydrocarbon reserves that are hidden in almost inaccessible areas. Our knowledge of petroleum geology and geochemistry is the best intellectual tool that we have for the neverending search for rich new deposits of hydrocarbons.

Работа посвящена выяснению условии формирования и закономерностей размещения залежей нефти и газа в Днепровско-Донецкой впадине. Рассматривается влияние региональных слабопроницаемых толщ па формирование промышленных скоплений углеводородов. На основании результатов анализа вертикального размещения различных типов скоплений углеводородов дается оценка перспектив, нефтегазоносноести глубокозалегающих горизонтов осадочного комплекса. 

Приводятся рекомендации по повышению эффективности поисково-разведочных работ в регионе. 

В сборнике помещены статьи, посвященные различным вопросам нефтяной геологии, рассматриваются особенности строения и условия формирования нефтегазоносных структур на территории Украины, а также приводятся результаты гидрогеологического и геохимического изучения нефтегазоносных областей.
