Soda ash / Кальцинированная сода

Soda ash is the trade name for sodium carbonate, a chemical refined from the mineral trona or sodium-carbonate-bearing brines (both referred to as "natural soda ash") or manufactured from one of several chemical processes (referred to as "synthetic soda ash"). Soda ash, which is one of the most important of all chemical products and is a starting material in producing many other chemicals, is produced in the largest amounts compared with other soda products.

Borates. Handbook of deposits, processing, properties and use / Бораты. Руководство по месторождениям, переработке, свойствам и использованию

The borates are among the most interesting of the world's industrial minerals, having been known and used since the earliest recorded history, first for precious metal working and later in ceramics. They are an unusually large grouping of minerals, but the number of commercially important borates is limited, and their chemistry and crystal structure are both unusual and complex. There are only a few large deposits, with many smaller formations, and the number of noncommercial occurrences in other rocks or brines is very large.

Platinum-nickel-chromium deposits. Geology, exploration and reserve base / Платина-никель-хромовые месторождения. Геология, изучение и ресурсная база

This book will address three primary metals and their associated metals. The primary metals are Platinum Group of Elements or Metals (PGE or PGM), nickel, and chromium. The associated metals include copper, gold, silver, and cobalt. The platinum group consists of six metals and occurs naturally in close association with one another as well as with nickel, chromium, copper, and cobalt. The group of metals represents a unique geological process having a common source of metal supply and a genetic model. The PGM is among the least abundant group of elements of the Earth’s element family.

Indium. Geology, mineralogy and economics / Индий. Геология, минералогия и экономика

The extraordinary growth of the computer and semiconductor industries and the increasing consumption of indium in these technologies in recent years have placed major constraints on current and future reserves of this metal. In the past, geoscientists have noticed the occurrence of indium in a large variety of ore deposits and detailed geochemical and mineralogical work is available for a few examples. However, despite the current technological interest, there is no comprehensive textbook that deals with all aspects of indium mineralization and economics.

Handbook of lithium and natural calcium chloride. Their deposits, processing, uses and properties / Руководство по литию природному хлориду кальция. Их месторождения, получение, использование и свойства

Lithium is one of the most interesting of the industrial minerals, occurring primarily in the unusual lithium pegmatites or in the very few high-lithium brine deposits. Many of the lithium pegmatites contain separate masses of different minerals (i.e. they are highly zoned), with the crystal size often being very large, such as up to 1–14 m long. There may be as many as 13 distinct and separate massive zones of single predominant minerals in the pegmatite, including up to six different lithium mineral zones, and several zones with other rare elements such as tantalum, niobium, tin, tungsten, cesium and rubidium.

Gold. History and genesis of deposits / Золото. История и происхождение месторождений

History and Genesis of Deposits is the product of an effort by the Society of Economic Geologists to publish materials that will expand knowledge concerning timely, specific topics important to the study of economic geology and to economic geologists. A volume on gold was selected for a general review-type publication because of the importance of the gold mining industry in the 1980s. The officers and council of the Society of Economic Geologists authorized the preparation of this book on gold in 1981, and Dr. Robert W. Boyle was selected as its author.

Predictive mapping for orogenic gold prospectivity in Uganda / Прогнозное картирование перспективности на месторождения золота орогенного типа в Уганде

In the last 15 years the concept of mineral systems approach to understanding orogenic gold systems has been developed. The orogenic gold model, as defined by Groves et al. (1998) argues for gold to be deposited during compressional deformation in accretionary orogens, from hydrothermal fluids derived from the metamorphism of greenstones. These deposits are typically found in late Archaean or in Palaeoproterozoic greenstone belts (Groves et al., 2007) and include the world class gold provinces of Yilgarn Craton, Superior Province, the Birimian of West Africa and the Tanzania Craton.

Orogenic gold and geologic time: a global synthesis / Орогенные месторождения золота и геологическое время: глобальный синтез

Orogenic gold deposits have formed over more than 3 billion years of Earth’s history, episodically during the Middle Archean to younger Precambrian, and continuously throughout the Phanerozoic. This class of gold deposit is characteristically associated with deformed and metamorphosed mid-crustal blocks, particularly in spatial association with major rustal structures. A consistent spatial and temporal association with granitoids of a variety of compositions indicates that melts and fluids were both inherent products of thermal events during orogenesis.
