Limestones make up 4400 km2 (1.8%) of Romania’s surface, which apparently is not much but they still host all known types of karst landscape and more than 12,000 caves showing a variety of genetic and morphological features. There are active caves traversed by tumultuous rivers, caves at higher levels with quiet chambers and large detrital deposits, and walls that witness the various phases of riverbed deepening.

In seismic exploration activity, seismic data acquisition is the element with the largest cost. Acquisition parameters fundamentally determine, among others, resolution and data quality.

Монография посвящена изучению географии речных русел и пойм вопросу актуальному в связи с задачей оптимизации использования ресурсов рек и сохранения удовлетворительного экологического состояния речных долин, но недостаточно изученному из-за многофакторности происхождения и динамики русел и пойм, их линейного распространения, транс зональности.

Whole industries currently rely on bulk-grown crystals of a variety of materials. These industries range from information technology, based on the ubiquitous silicon, through radiofrequency applications, using gallium arsenide, etc.,'to telecommunications and lighting, based on III-V compounds, to infrared imaging, based on cadmium mercury telluride, and to high-energy physics and medical imaging using scintillator materials. These materials are used either in the active mode, as for silicon, or in the passive mode where the bulk-grown material is used as a substrate on which to deposit a wide range of binary, ternary, quaternary, etc., compounds by several epitaxial growth processes.

More landslides can be expected as climate change exacerbates rainfall intensity. The long-term trend of the last 40 years has seen the number of major recorded extreme weather events almost double, notably floods, storms, landslides, and wildfires. Landslides are a serious geological hazard. Among the host of natural triggers are intense rainfall, flooding, earthquakes or volcanic eruption, and coastal erosion caused by storms that are all too often tied to the El Niсo phenomenon.
