Последние, до сих пор неиспользованные наиболее тугоплавкие, так называемые редкие элементы 4-й группы Менделеевской системы, как Ti, Zr, Hf, Th и другие, как Be, наконец оказались в руках человека. За последние годы была создана промышленность по получению U, Th, Be, Zr, Hf, Ge и других редких элементов. В связи с этим, естественно, усилились требования к методам анализа этих элементов и к контролю новых производств. Это значительно расширило рамки исследований в области аналитической химии. В то же время изменился й самый характер этих исследований в смысле стремления отойти от эмпирических и полуэмпирических методов анализа и перейти на разработку методов, строго основанных на законах физической химии.
Настоящий сборник состоит из статей, в которых излагаются материалы изучения пыльцы и спор из неогеновых и четвертичных отложений главным образом европейской части СССР. Статьи посвящены решению двух проблем: эволюции растительного покрова Русской равнины в неогене и палеогеографии Ленинградской области в четвертичное время. Материалы сборника могут быть использованы при поисках полезных ископаемых. Сборник рассчитан на геологов и палеонтологов, в особенности палинологов, работающих в области изучения стратиграфии неогеновых и четвертичных отложений.
Книга содержит статьи по материалам 8-го Всероссийского совещания по изучению четвертичного периода, проведенного в г. Ростове-на-Дону (Ростовская область). Сообщения касаются широкого спектра проблем, связанных с изучением четвертичных морских и континентальных отложений Европы и Азии. Рассматриваются палеобиологическая летопись плейстоцена и голоцена. Особое внимание уделяется вопросам палеогеографии, климатических изменений в четвертичном периоде, стратиграфии и седиментологии в Восточной Европе и Азии. Показаны новейшие данные изучения тектонической и климатической летописи. Обсуждаются вопросы распространения и хронологии палеолитических стоянок, адаптации древнего человека к палеосреде. Издание предназначено для широкого круга геологов-стратиграфов, палеонтологов, палеогеографов и археологов.
